I have a toilet with a push button flush mechanism (allowing half or full flush). The toilet has a macerator behind it. If you flush the toilet and the macerator jams, the push button stays stuck in and the water keeps coming, flooding the bathroom. This has happened twice so it is not a conincidence that the button sticks in when macerator blocks. What could be causing this and what is the solution?

This seems like a problem with your cistern and not your macerator - I have a similar set up and if your push button is stuck you need to check the mechanism in the cistern - also you should have an overflow that drains into your loo within the cistern so you should check this for blockages as well.
