I have a Toro 6.5 HPTecumseh .The pull cord is difficult to pull and will actually **** the cord back to the engine.The engine sounds as though it would start,but does not. Joe W

Have you tried lubricating the drive shaft? If you turn the mower on its side and try to manually turn the blade by hand and it's difficult to turn, you just need to lubricate the shaft where it slides into the body of the mower. Several shots of WD-40 or oil should lube it up and then it should turn easily again.
