I have a trendnet wireless router tew 432brp, a new hp windows 7 laptop, and old xp laptop and i want to share the connection with my verizon um175 aircard. this has worked for several years with the old pc, but the setup was done by our IT guy. the old laptop says it is connected to trendnet with great signal but the internet connection does not work. the new laptop will not install the trendnet software (as i have read because it is a wireless connection adn their is no additional router). so it tells me to log on manually to configure the router BUT using the ip address of the router 192.168.1.1 nothing comes up on either computer. i called trendnet but they say it is not possible to work BUT i know it does although it's sticky setting it up - i remember our IT guy saying that. can you help?
The router connects computers together . You are using a windows 7 p.c and connecting it to an internet connection via a usb verizon um175 aircard. I think you need to share the internet connection with the rest of the network and may need to feed the ethernet cable into the feed port of the router. I have not done this before but logically the windows 7 computer would have to act as a gateway to the internet.
Note the default gateway is going to have to be the windows 7 ip address on the other computers You may need to set the ip address on windows 7 to a static address and then change the dhcp server settings default gateway and also increase the first address to not include the windows 7 ip address or the routers ip address in the lease range for shcp.
