I have a Troy Bilt lawnmower, model 565, three years old, that won't start. It gets a spark, and will ''hit'' when I spray WD 40 in the chamber (to displace any water), but won't start. I dumped the gas and put in new gas. The plug gets coated, but the ''fuel'' won't ignite when I try to light it with a lighter. Baffling. Please advise
Remove the sediment bowl on the bottom of the carb, look and see how much gunk in the bowl, then dump out,now push up on the float and see if gas runs out in your hand,if not then the needle seat is plugged and carb needs removal and cleaning,if you get some gas thru this float put the bowl back on and use your WD-40 and get it started and if it starts to die spray it again and again to keep it running and sometimes the blockage will work its way out and you wont need to remove the carb(starting fluid also works if it starts hard,be careful and try to only use WD-40 after its running because WD-40 has lubricant for the cylinder where starting fluid is dry and wont lubricate the cylinder wall)
