March 2021 0 45 Report
I have a Vizio M50 4K TV which a has a 2mm horizontal pixelized lighted bar on the bottom edge of the screen which seems to react to content luminance and color. What component could that be?
The bar is not on constant horizontal line but rather lights up bright pixels in the approximate shape of the content in the center of the screen. For instance, when the app icons are pulled up it will show 2mm or so of light in the color of the apps on the screen at the width of the app icons on the screen. The same is said for any content on the screen that has color and/or luminance. It also blinks between regular pixels (no issue) to the light pixels in the bar. On and off probably even 1-2 seconds at a constant rate. I've tried opening various apps (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, TV Menus) and the lighted pixels show up in them all. I have also reset the TV to default settings hoping maybe there was something wrong with an app or update. Finally, I disconnected all external devices 1 by 1 to rule those out and plugged the TV into different outlets. All attempts at doing a regular diagnostics failed. According to similar reports by other users, it's thought that this could be the T Con. I'd rather know for sure before looking for or attempting any fixes. Thanks.
