I have a VR3845 DVD Recorder VCR. I have used it many times in the year I have had it to take programs recorded to TIVO and put them on DVD's. Now when I take a previous DVD RW disk and try and record the next episode it won't do it. My screen comes on with the message "unknown disk, please, check disk". Can you help here? What's going on? Thanks

That usually means that you have dirty or defective lens.

The first attempt you can do is cleaning the lens with a DVD cleaner kit , possibly a good one with cleaning solution.

If that does not work, the unit must be taken apart , and the lens cleaned with soft cotton and isopropyl alcohol, accessing the lens pickup.
