I have a Windsor Sensor s12 and power shuts off after 5 min. of vacuuming. I'm wondering if it's overheating of if there is some other sensor that causes it to shut off
After we let it cool off for a few minutes it will start again but only run for a few seconds.

Your Sensor most likely has an internal heat sensor that is shutting off the motor. Some vacuums install an external heat sensor with a reset button that you must push to re-start the vacuum. If your model does not have an external reset button it is most likely a sensor inside the motor. If it is defective the motor must be replaced to solve the problem. But first make sure the overheating is not being caused by a blockage somewhere or the bag is too full. Air must pass completely through a vacuum starting at the floor where it picks up the dirt through all the canisters, filters, bags, etc. and then is exhausted from the vacuum. Any restrictions or blockage can cause the motor to over heat.
That Vac Guy
I'm looking at this Windsor Karcher that sometimes you can smell an electrical burn, but the armature and all looks good. However, the vacuum will shut off after about 10 minutes of running. There are no clogs and I had already installed a new power supply board. Thank you!
The Sensors are great machines as are the Versamatics. I've found that if the Sensor is shutting off then cleaning or replacing the "hygiene filter", the tall filter inside the bag compartment, normally fixes the problem, letting the motor "breathe" easier. The bag full and clog sensors wear out over time. I own two and those lights are constantly on.
I have a question for you... my sensor s12 - the motor cuts in and out as the machine is moved from verticle to horizontal positions as well in the vertical position when pushed as far forward as possible.
I have changed the cord/handle no effect.
changed filters/bag no effect
pinched or broken wire?
