I have a45NW and we cannot get the grime from building up around the top rim. We cannot wash any light or white clothes as it leaves them with grim on them
Sounds like soap residue buildup. Try cleaning the machine with very hot water and vinegar. Fill machine as full as it will go and pour in a gallon of white vinegar. Run thru longest cycle and you might have to scrub a little. Rinse with hot water a couple of times. Then switch detergents.
