I have AEG lavatherm 5230 tumble, front door dryer. After choosing the program & closing the door, when I connect the electrical plug, the 'in operation' button light comes on. Then, when I press the 'start' button, nothing happens. Please advise
On the AEG dryers there actually are fuses for the heating circuit, usually two.
If you remove the back cover you should find a couple of fuse links in series with each element. There are 2 fuses ( which look like resistors ) on the inside of the element about 20mm up. These will be the non reset-able thermal fuses.
Also when replacing that back cover it is crucial the seal be in good condition as this will render your efforts futile once you re-install the back panel be allowing air to move across the element in a manner it shouldn't.
I will also inform you to check for negative air pressure in a room/closet not allowing enough make-up air to flow across the heater/fuses. ( if it's in a room closed, make sure there is a vent in the door or some other air supply for make-up )
The other factor which causes these fuses to trip is poor venting and opening the door during operation.
I don't have a part number, but the fuses typically come in a kit with a new heater as well.
Let me know what you find or if you have any trouble understanding my post so I can clarify.
I'll try to provide further assistance should you need it in any manner I can.
I should have mentioned, I must go out immediately to do on-site service calls, so if you reply I won't get your message for about 8hrs.
If you can wait I'll try and help, but if you reply before then I won't get your message and your question will be re-posted in the unsolved que. If you cannot wait I'll understand.
The FixYa site only allows me about 4 hrs. to reply and once you post a response a timer starts.
Otherwise perhaps what I've provided will be enough to help in the interim, Good luck and hopefully you will get the issue resolved either through my efforts or another expert if you cannot wait for my return.

Hello Gowtham, Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, however the specs. you are requesting I can't provide. I put in a request with a gentleman I know at "Euro-line" ( AEG distributer here in Canada ) and evidently the thermal fuses come in a complete kit with heater and all. I am still waiting to here back from him regarding availability, but I'd suggest in the meantime you check the resistance of the fuses, just for continuity...forget the value or specs. for now...they only need to be closed and replaced if open. They are only a safety device not a cycling thermostat device. Regards, Macmarkus :)
Hello & Welcome to FixYa When the Thermal fuse of the dryer goes bad it wont turn on or will stop heating. You can check the thermal fuse for continuity, if it is open then the thermal fuse needs replacement however, if the fuse tests continuity then check the control board (if that is bad then it needs replacement). Please get back to me if you have any other questions. Kevin
Thermal fuse is located to the exhaust duct on the blower wheel housing inside the back panel of your dryer....Thermal fuse is located to the exhaust duct on the blower wheel housing inside the back panel of your dryer....
May i inquire why you press these buttons before you have the unit connected to a power source or is it misadvertently written that way,if not connect the plug to a power source and try it in this order because the machine can't accept orders as in your choosing a program without having power to do so
