I have an Advent 4211c notebook - sometimes when I attempt to use the shut down option from the start button, it wont work and I have to resort to using the power button. This problem is intermittent. Any ideas ? There are no updates being downloaded or installed when it happened last

Sounds like windows is having an issue with stopping a program that is running at the time that u try to shut the computer down like what programs are running when u try the shut down
it can also be caused by a corrupt registry or something as simple as a corrupt driver
