I have an Aiwa z650 3disc cd player, the disc spins a couple of times and then stops I'm told the potentiometer may need adjusting,I've taken the case of but can't find this thing
As far as I know, there is no adjustment for the spinning of disks - the microcomputer determines the speed to spin the disk in order to read the pits properly. What I normally find is a dirty lens that can carefully cleaned with alcohol and a clean lint free cloth. Another problem I find is a build up of lint on the rods that the laser runs on that stops the laser head from going far enough along them to begin the reading of the pits. And one final problem I've seen that isn't fixable is that the very fine wires that suspend the laser focusing lens might be broken or have a real bug or dirt stuck so it won't go up and down properly read the pits on the disk.
Not sure bout that ,,usally when it spins a few times and thats it,,motor wore out,,,put a disc in try as it stops spinning or right wen its fixon to start spinning given it a help spin,,i had that fix or getem goin,,,,also try tapping it ,,and hitting the side od the machine,,good luck,,
Some motors do indeed wear out but when it's trying to spin the disk, it's also trying to locate the beginning parts of the disk. Please see my answer for problems I've seen that you can try to fix yourself. Some motors do indeed wear out but when it's trying to spin the disk, it's also trying to locate the beginning parts of the disk.
