I have an Alesis SR16 drum machine. It fires up ok and you can select a drum pattern, but the output is barely audible. Only by bringing the volume on the machine and the amp right up can you hear anything and then it is faint. Have you got any ideas and who I could take it to?

What power adapter do you have on this? This one REQUIRES and AC input, NOT a DC adapter !!! Many people try DC adapters on these because they lose the original and ALL fail. You need a 9VAC at 830ma or more adapter. If you have lost yours, search for "SR16 power adapter" to find replacement.
Note that using a DC adapter of the right voltage will NOT cause damage, the thing just won't work.
