1. The engine has been turned over backwards (hard to do as the recoil should only grip the flywheel one way)
2. Faulty ignition timing due to a bad ignition module.
3. The woodruff key on the flywheel has broken, allowing the flywheel to advance the engine timing.The only 3 possible reasons are: 1. How to fit replacement chainsaw chain
Bruce see if you can advance the timing a bit to stop the reversing.
Do you have the chain on the right way.!!!!??? The teeth on the top of the bar should be facing away from the engine.
The only 3 possible reasons are:
1. The engine has been turned over backwards (hard to do as the recoil should only grip the flywheel one way)
2. Faulty ignition timing due to a bad ignition module.
3. The woodruff key on the flywheel has broken, allowing the flywheel to advance the engine timing.
