I have an intex salt water system and having problems keeping my pool chlorinated. Pool is turning green light on system reads chlorinating. What do i do? I have cleaned the electrolytic cells with muratic acid
Pool & Spa - Intex - Automatic Salt Water System for Above Ground Saltwater Pool
Sit back and drink a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage, this may take some time to read. First off it is a must that your salt level is at or as close to 3000ppm as possible. Over around 3800ppm and salt will not efficiently be made under 2700 or so you will get the same result. Neither one will necessarily trigger the alarms.
Next possible Do you have a stabilizer in the pool? It is very important to have stabilizer. This helps hold the chlorine level
Most possible The intex pumps are not strong enough to handle the pool volumes. Take for instance you need to turn a pool over AT LEAST 3 times as quickly as possible if you have a 5000gl pool and a 2500gl filter per hour thats 6 hours alone that you should be running your filter alone. Ad to that trying to generate chlorine When generating chlorine your pump slows down so you are not filtering on the level needed. depending on how hot the day was,how many bathers, did it rain at all, Was kims hair full of hair products, and the killer sun tan lotion All of these have affects
the usual generating time is between 5-8 hours sometimes longer depending on the above situations. and dont forget the stabilizer
Bottom line this is what I do with an 18x52
I run the generator some time in the late evening 10-7 11-8 whatever it takes. once you start testing and see how low and then run it for x amount of hours and then see how low it goes again the next day you will be able to start gauging how long to run it. Once the unit is done unplug it and re plug this resets it to filter only now run that until you are ready to set the generator again and continue to do this the whole summer Yes you need to run that thing 24 hours a day. It is no worse than having a 40 watt bulb on continuous.
remeber also that a pools worst enemy is not getting used. If that is the case LITTLE USAGE then you should be brushing your pool daily
one last thing get a good non foaming algecide about 15 dollars for 32 ounces you will use from 12-24 ounces just follow the directions and a bottle of something like crystal clear this product helps all the small particles to clump together thus easier for the filter cartridge to grab and do its job. Not noticable to the naked eye
Hope this helps and I appologize for the structure of this post I am not much of a writer Mark
