I have an old autohelm 800 analog with turn dial worked ok for three year on my 20ft sail boat Coreis but the other day it fully extended the arm and now it just 'clicks' and will not respond to turning the compass rose. Is there a fix I can do myself. I doubt it's worth sending for repaire. If not; am I likly to find a cheap secondhand one to replace. Would an autohelm 1000 do the same job? If it is the one with the compass rose on it ,check if the compass rose is turning while the arm is moving,if not take the compass dial off by lifting the rose on the compass dial and unscrewing the special screw,then the same for the function dial.and all the screws in the bottom , Inside is a string with a spring running around the compass and on a pulley check if the string is broken or off the track.
I have a good one but need the mounting bracket that attaches to the side of the sailboat. So if u no longer need urs let me know price. Same for the electrical plug. Thanks

I have an old Autohelm 1000 with compass dial that came with boat. Was not working and missing the compass dial. I have fixed it but still missing that compass dial.
If anyone has a non working one and wants to sell as is of the compass dial, I would like to hear from you.
