What the button does is close a loop. You can open up the unit and remove the switch and replace it. If you can not find a replacement, you can also bypass it by removing the two wires on the switch and connect them together with a wire nut. The unit will always stay on until you unplug it. Always unplug the unit while doing any repairs! Good luck
