I have an older model Avanti Wine Chiller that began making a very loud almost-grinding noise last night. It continues to cool but I have turned it off due to the deafening sound. Any ideas?
It has worked perfectly until now. After having it off for a while, I turned it back on and it was quiet for a couple minutes before emitting the loud noise again.

First off determine where the noise is coming from what area? I suspect u may have a fan or condenser fan problem restricted , impeded or going out?
