I have an older wireless -b router looks like picture of the g above. I am having to reset several times daily to connect wirless laptop or other home pcs. Will the reset button and reset as described above for the g model help me for the b model? thanks
Computers & Internet - Linksys - Wireless-G WRT54G Router
As far as I know... Linksys' B router firmwares has already been decommissioned long time ago , if problems really persist after the reset , better off getting a new router...
Linksys Hard reset advice - Press and hold the reset button using a pen or paper clip for 10 seconds --- take note , after the reset do not forget to power down the router for 30 secs to 1 min. to enable the default settings successfully
I think you should do a hard reset ... find the small hole in the back of the router and with a small object, with the devide unplugged, gently hold the button inside down for at least 30 seconds. Delete the device from within your device manager. Reconnect the router and wait for it to become stable then turn on your computer and reinstall the newest software you can get from www.linksys.com for your OS.
Are you sure you are 'b'? I think the WRT54G is a G or better.
Anyway, if this doesn't work, maybe you should upgrade to the newer technology. It is more reliable and faster than the 'b'.
Mine looks like the pic also ... mine is a G. Most of the time, Linksys uses the technology as a part of the model number. When you get home, get out your reading glass and study the bottom label. It will tell what technology it is.
As a side bar, Cisco offers a product called Network Magic that you may be interested in. Free to download and evaluate it is well worth the couple bucks to get the full license after a week but if you dont, you can continue to use the product with a few fewer features for free. I paid for mine and I love it. Goggle "Network Magic"
BTW ... thanks for the kind words and the 4 thumbs up. We volunteers appreciate your support.
