I have an Onkyo HT-S5300 and the Subwoofer will not make amplified sound when turned on. Blue status light is on when receiver is turned on, and i can hear un-amplified signal coming from the sub. I Already tried resetting default settings on receiver, changing tone levels and subwoofer loudness as well as changing the crossover frequency. Subwoofer cable from receiver to sub is in good condition and has been swapped out as well. Still no amplified sound. No solution found for this problem in manual. The ONLY way i can get an amplified signal from the sub is to remove the RCA cable from the rear of the receiver, put my finger on the connector, the sub then picks up the static feedback and triggers, and will amplify the static, i can then plug the RCA connector back up to the receiver and it will amplify the music's signal for approximately 5 minutes before turning off again. (Keep in mind the blue status light on the receiver is still on the entire time). I am out of ideas. Please Help
Hi, isn't there a red/blue light on the sub to tell when the internal amp is on? I don't know that the light on the receiver is relevant. I believe the sub's internal amp is not triggering properly. If it is under warranty, I would take it back for repair. If not under warranty, I would open it and look for a burned component on the circuit board.
