I have aSmartDisk Firelite FWFL80-N, the firewire ports are producing a weak connection connection
We have to hold the cord to retreive files. We were told to get a new enclosure case. All I could find was a 2.5 IDE USB case. It just makes a high pitched noise and doesn't show up on the lap top.( Intel Macbook Pro 10.4) Any recommendations as to what brand replacement case will work or what specifications to look for?

Problem may not be the case. If you holding the cord the port that the cord hooks into is going bad. Do the cheap repairs first, check the connection or replace the cable first then the case.
