I have enjoyed Skyoe for years but recently I can't get the program to load from the icon on the desktop. I can go to sign in and it tells me I'm on line and ready but my contacts never appear. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Can you assist me?
Could you please let me know your Skype version? It would great if you can explain more about the problem in more details, like how it started, after you make any changes with the system? or after installing or uninstalling some/a program from your computer, etc... so that I can help you better. Please include the Operating System running on your computer. Thanks.
Thanks. Well, its hard for me to assume myself since this issue appears to be a new issue with Skype.
Before you begin the below steps, please uninstall the skype. You can use the Ccleaner you are going to download to uninstall by clicking the "Tools" icon on the left pane of the program, or you can simply do it from the Control Panel.
First of all, let's try with a registry and system cleaner. I'll help you use Ccleaner. Click Here to download. Install it and follow these instructions on how to run the Cleaner. Please close all the running applications and browser before you run the steps. Once the cleaning is done, click the "Registry" icon on the left pane of the Ccleaner program. Watch this video to perform the Registry cleaning:
Now, restart your computer. Open My Computer, go to C drive and check for "Skype" folder under "Program Files" folder. If there's a folder with the name "Skype", delete it.
Again, type in "regedit" (without quotations) in the Run box [click Start and then Run] and press Enter. The registry editor will open up, double-click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", and then double-click "SOFTWARE", scroll down, locate "Skype", right-click and delete. Also, double-click the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER", and then "Software", "Skype" and "SkypeApps", right-click and delete both of them. Restart your computer once again and download the latest version of Skype from HERE and then Install it.
Check whether everything runs ok or not.
Let me know if the problem persists.
Good Luck.
