I have just bought 10617 JR Russel Hobbs 2 slice glass toaster. According to the information enclosed with the product, I turned on the toaster at levell 7 and pressed the lever all the way down without bread in it. Abd, waiter until it turned off automatically. It did turn itself off after a while. However, when I tried to make a toast the following morning, it would not turn on at all. The indicator lights did not come on nor the lever would not stay down. It seems like the safety mechanism is on. Please advise as to what to do. I am not near the store I bought this product and I really need to solve it here. Thank you for your help. Akiko

It sounds like the unit has failed, I don't know what you could possibly do at your current location. You are going to at least need a new heating element and replace it, and if you are going to do that you may as well get a new one. You can contact the manufacturer and claim a warranty on it and they will ship you a new one, that is your best bet if there is no possible way to return it.
