I have just bought Pinnacle 14, it keeps crashing it says GPU Accelerator off. The transition are an exclamation mark (!) or they take about an hour to come in so that you have no idea what the Titles or anything else you bring onto the timeline looks like, Its a useless programme I am thinking of just cutting my losses and buying something new. I have a very up to date computer Windowa 7, I have always edited films but this is the worst ever. I am very disappointed
Computers & Internet - Pinnacle - Studio Version 9 for PC
Your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit, aka video card) handles the display on the computer. On many modern computers the GPU also handles some extra processing, which takes some load off of your CPU. If you are getting error messages about the GPU, it could be a hardware problem, or it could also be a software problem. You didn't mention how recent your Pinnacle software is, but it may be that your software in not fully compatible w/ Win 7. I recently had to upgrade my Roxio (another video burning/editing software) for the same reason. Now mine works wonderfully. I would first suggest visiting Pinnacle and seeing if there are any software updates for your software product. Next I would check to see what your GPU is installed in your computer: Click start/control panel/system, then select device manager, and click "display adapter" to open up your video card. If you have an ATI/AMD or NVIDIA card, there are software updates that may improve performance of the system. If you have an Intel card, there still may be updates but they are less frequent, and will probably make less of an impact performance-wise. Please also mention if any other programs are crashing etc. as it may help to clarify the problem.
