I have just filled out a question form before Joining. So here again: It is a need to clean a hi-fi CD playing lens
HOW to clean: I have a Kenwood HM-333 micro hi-fi component system bought Australia about 2002. Needs only cleaning of CD player, but cannot be dismantled to expose it. I insert a new cleaner-disk, but the machine reads no disc and won't play it.

It is possible the laser or other part of the CD player is faulty. These can stop working for no apparent reason at any time...
I had a Sony system that also refused to read the cleaning disc. I had experienced laser failure twice before on other equipment and hoped it hadn't happened again as the cost would be disproportionate. This also couldn't be accessed for manual cleaning and so I used a compressed airline and blew through every orifice with the drawer open and drawer closed.
I was lucky and the CD player was again able to read a disc again though a few months later it stopped working again for good. The repair cost would have been half as much again as a new system but I had the remarkable stroke of luck to find someone had put an identical model out for the garbage and so I changed the internals and have continued to enjoy my CD for the last few years, though it is again becoming temperamental.
Thanks Vernon; impressed at how clearly you pick up my input style="display:none;">Thanks Vernon; impressed at how clearly you pick up my input data and address it so directly. The only remaining Q would be: is there a range of effectiveness in cleaning disks, or would the machine play none of them if it fails to play the one I have tried.
The simple answer to your last question is I don't know as until a few days ago I have only owned one cleaning disc. My CD player wouldn't read it with the original innards but did afterwards with the replacement innards.
I have since been given a new and unused cleaning disc but haven't had need to try it yet.
As far as your comment; thank you. The English language is a pretty good method of communicating but it is a lot easier to answer questions that are clearly asked (something increasingly rare these days) so I am equally impressed.
