I have just purchased a 4 inch x 12 inch red fox thickneser which was manufactured around the late 1940's approx
It has no motor and I am wondering what size motor to put on it and also the revolutions as we are on single phase power. Regards Jim

As it takes a lot of power to drive a planer /thicknesser
you would be looking at 2 hp or 3 hp preferred
rpms around the 2200 mark as the blades have to be spinning rapidly to get a good finish
what you didn't mention is if it is direct or belt driven
