I have recently purchased a 2005 Pontiac Montana SV6. The issue I'm having is that the radio has very poor AM reception. The dealer looked it over and could not find the problem. Could it simply be the antenna, or something more drastic? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Well, it could be just the antenna. But that would most likely affect FM as well.
If everything else works OK, more than likely, the AM detector stage of the receiver has a faulty component. And component level repairs for OEM radios is just not economical. The dealer would probably just replace it, but the prices dealers charge is higher than an aftermarket receiver with higher power output, more features, and better sound.
