I have somehow lost my camera icon it is no longer availible as an application and also lost my music library for the ipod i have no songs and i asked a tech at apple store and i was advised to reset or restore my iphone and im not sure how to do it correctly without messing or loosing more functions on my iphone

You iPhone syncs with your workstation through iTunes. Attach the phone to iTunes, go under the iPod icon on the left. Then choose the backup option. Below it is the option to reset/restore the phone.
