I have the Boss RC-50 Loopstation. It has been great. Perfect operation for about 8 months. Today, when I started to use it, I noticed that I couldn't select "Phrase 1" by tapping the pedal. The other two channels work fine. Phrase 1 will play when I hit "ALL START" (Phrase 2 and 3 pedals simultaneously), I just can't select Phrase 1 with its pedal. There has been no damage to the machine, no liquids spilled on it, and no indications that anything was going wrong. The last time I used it, it worked perfectly. Have you ever heard of this problem before? Thank you for your help

Likely the switch contacts for that pedal have failed. You will probably have to get it repaired. Stomping on the pedals is a good way to damage them, but the switches are often marginally designed anyway...
If you can access the switch you could try getting some CRC226 available at Home Depot in the electrical department into the switch, but often the internal parts of switches fail.
First turn off Simul Start,
To do this, stop all phrases if playing,Press [Name Patch] twice,
Press Parameter [< ][>] to display "Patch:SimulStart."
Use the Patch/Value dial and PARAMETER to switch the on/off function for each phrase
Do indicators i.e. record, playback, overdub show for that phrase?
Do they change when pedal is depressed?
Perhaps you have a recorded phrase with protection engaged. In addition It will not play if "one shot" is engaged.
These phrase pedals are very hardy and an occasional "stomp" should not unduly affect them. I have used my RC50 for 10 years now and it looks like it but still works well.
