Yes, but not recommended. If you are going to use it on an above ground pump the system head will drop to a very low number and the pump will operate very high on its pump curve causing a couple of potential problems.
First, your filter will have to be rated for the high flow. I do not have Aqua Tools curves or numbers to give you an exact figure but if you have your horsepower you can look it up on the web. Your filter needs to be rated that high or you will have problems; even a filter failure.
Your pump will exceed the hose flow ratings and may require PVC plumbing to operate.
You should consider plumbing in a throttling valve on the pump discharge to help moderate these problems.
