I installed a Maxtor 4R080L0 as a slave drive. My Windows Explorer (XP) cannot "see" the drive. - It is recognized by the BIOS. - It is properly listed in the Device Manager and 'running properly' - Win XP notifies me that new hardware is installed at startup. However it is NOT listed in the Registry under MountedDevices. It does NOT show up in Windows Explorer. I removed all entries in MountedDevices in the Registry, and let Windows rediscover all the devices. Still not found. I have removed the drive, restarted, reinstalled the drive, restarted. Still no drive showing up in Explorer How do we fix this?

You will need to go into the control panel, administrator, and then disk drive manager. once there you will need to initialize the new drive and then format the drive before the system will see it. Format using the NTFS file system only if you are using XP, After the format is completed reboot the system and your new slave drive should show up just fine and you will be able to log into it or use explorer to view it.
