I installed a new power supply on my pc cause it would not turn on at all, after installing the new power supply it turned on but then poered donw after a few seconds, what would cause this issue?

A defective device (motherboard, hard disk, floppy, cd, dvd, fan) connected to the power supply can cause this problem. Try just connecting the motherboard and see if the unit will still power down after a few seconds. If it does then the motherboard is probably defective. If it did not power down, try connecting additional device one by one until you find the device that is causing the problem.
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
