I just dropped my buffallo HD-CE500U2-EU and now its making a whirling clicking noise.. wont recognise on my laptop still lights up green though, can i fix this or at least get my files recovered? thanks

Sorry to said that your description comes to a dead hard disk. Especially if the hard disk was at power on state the moment that dropped down there is no doubt that the clicking noise that you hear is a destroyed hard disk.

There are some kind of recovery programs but not for cases like your's (just for deleted files e.t.c.) For cases like yours the better solution are the hard disk recovery laboratories. Any try you may do to recover the disk by yourself will re-duse the possibility for these companies to recover your id="sp1spgoogle">google for labs like these at your area and ask for guaranteed recover (e.g. some labs ask to pay only if most of the files are recovered).

I don't suggest to open the internal hard disk because it must be opened in a special environment (clear of dust e.t.c.) Here are some links you can ask details about the cost to recover your hard disk:
