I just got this from a panw shop, it doesn't work it need a battery and I take it it also need a charger for the battery, where is the best place to get one of each, can I get one from the factory, along with a manual, the serial #is 9912234
OK, first it doesn't need a charger. Most charger are external types. Battery, it probably uses one (1) CR123A which is a three (3) volt battery, or two (2) "AA" batteries which are rated at 1 1/2 volts each. Batteries you can get them every where, Radio Shack, WalMart, Kmart, Sam's, Walgreen's, One Stop Batteries, etc. The average life for the CR123A is about twenty hours of use, and it probably the same for the double "AA's.
Here how this Famous Trails End NV FT300 Monocular work. The monocular has two button-one for on/off, and the other is for the IR luminations.
.WARNING!!!! This a night vision devise will be used at Night! Don't taking a look see at bright lights or using the night vision devise during the day... Light time.
Now the monocular has a build in shut off for to much light entering the image tube. Don't try it, it works. The more times the monocular NV is subjected to bright lights the more it destroys the thinly film cover over the plate. One it gone, new image intensifier tube and the cost will be about $200 plus shipping and handling. If you just have to take a look see in the monocular. Get a couple of optic lens cover that snap on. The front Optic cover drill about 1/16 in hole in the center of the cap, that it. Now you can take the back lens cover and remove it. Turn your monocular on and take a look through the eye piece. It should be green, if not, take it back the Pawn Shop and ask for a refund.
If you don't have lens covers that OK too. Just get in dark room and point the monocular at one of the corners. Don't point it any lights. It will turn green. I will advise you don't test the auto shut off. You don't know who had first, second or even third time, how it was handed and used. stewbison
