If the timing is close and not running rough you will need a timing light to set the timing.the timing spec should be on a decal on the upper rad support.i think its 6-8 degrees before top dead center.the motor should be at operating temp and with the timing light hooked up to the battery and #1 cylinder.point the light at the timing marks and adjust the timing to spec.when the timing is set tighten distributor hold down bolt and recheck timing to make sure tightening the bolt hasn`t changed the timing.
