You may also need to replace the ignition coils. There are certain tests you can do to determine if one of the coils is bad or all 3. Did you make sure that the plug wires were snapped firmly onto the coils? Also not having the spark plug wires in the correct order will NOT make it misfire, it will just make the car run very rough if you even get it to turn over in that case. LOL. It seriously sounds like either your ignition coils need to be replaced or one of the cylinders could have a compression problem. Go to this link, it tells and shows you how to test your ignition coils and it also discusses misfires: http://www.aa1car.com/library/ignition_coils.htm.
If you do need to replace 1 or all 3 of your ignition coils, you can buy them cheaply at this website: www.partsgeek.com.
Also if there are any colleges or trade schools in your area that have auto mechanics courses, most also repair cars. most usually dont charge for labor, only parts and a small shop fee. If this is the case call them asap. they can help you. hope this helps. If you need any more help let me know. I will try to help you. I work on cars and currently have a 2004 Pontiac grand am se1.
