I just set up a wireless network in my house. My config is this Verizon Fios ONT running ethernet Linksys gigabit 8 port switch 150 foot length of cat 6 running to my verizon router from switch 50 foot length of cat 6 running to my linksys e4200 router from switch wired speeds are good 30 down 25 up. I used a linksys ae1000 adapter in my laptop and it is getting poor signal (2 bars). The crappy on board abg network adapter in the laptop is getting better strength. Only problem is with the on board network adapter I only get 54 m a sec I was hoping to get 300 out of the ae1000 but am only getting 104 and change, sometimes, fluctuates a lot. Any suggestions?

Try disabling the onboard wireless adapter- the two may be conflicting w/ each other. The other thing I can think of is try a system that does NOT have wireless onboard (a desktop for instance)- that way you could see if the issue is indeed the internal connection's broadcast interfering with the usb adapter
