I just today bought a Samson R21S microphone, and I plugged it into my laptop via the laptops microphone jack, and immediately had problems. It cuts off my voice in mid sentence, it wont get half of my vocals, it records at a level that is barely audible... Its garbage. Can I fix it, or should I sent in for a refund?

Not really the mic's fault - just incompatible.
Your Samson mic is a "dynamic" type and the laptop is expecting a "condensor" type.
You could put the mic through a preamp first but easier to exchange for a more suitable type.
