I'm afraid it is most likely a scratched / damaged printhead.
There is no alternative other than replacing the printhead assembly.
If this is indeed a older Magicard Rio model (metal covers, no LCD display), then the replacement part number is FG/M9005-794.
This is an expensive item though. It may not be economically viable to replace the printhead on such an old printer.
