I keep on losing connection to the internet for a matter of seconds. The router automatically reboots itself and is fine again after it has done this but the problem is ongoing and has been since I started using my new connection through my Zyxel router

There might be problem with firmware installed on your router ,ask your vendor about any firmware upgrade needed or you can get a replacement router.
