I lose signal, I get no white noise or anything
When i first turn it on, it will work fine, but after a few minutes it will fade out and no incoming or outgoing signal happens. When the mike is keyed up the strength lights won't even come on after it has 'faded'.

Sounds like you might have a bad soilder on the board. If you take off the top cover and press on the board lightly here and there will the noise change or the radio work.If so then you'll have to locate the bad joint or have someone do it for you.
