I do not know how many times people will wander into my shop wanting to buy an expensive thermocouple only to get home and have the same problem as before. Don't spend any money till you try this: Clean the pilot safety. Blow it out with shop air or a straw or flush it with rust buster but do not mess with the flap on the pilot or you will ruin it. I use the rust buster to flush the dust and cobwebs out of many a heater. I wrote a page and included photos HERE
Those thermocouples are built quite well. I have not ever seen a bad one.
