When exploring the player in My Computer on the PC, before disconnecting always go through the icon "safely remove hardware'' in the right corner on the computer's screen below.
For transfers Window Media Player 11 can be used. More information about using WMP11 see: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/using.mspx
