First off you never said what stops you, lost the cable? but wait the PC is a Samsung Chrome book, (cheap) I guess you lost the users manual that It? I see it has 1 DP display port. the next question is what is the hot key to turn that on. again in the users manual.. im reading yours now, at Samsung, it shows PD or HDMI and is optional when new, no full service tag on your PC so impossible for any one to know what sub model PC you own but here is the rules , the cable plugged in HDMI automatically connects the external monitor. if not reconnect the cable. page 37 in your manual covers this. it also says
If you close the upper panel of the Chromebook while
connected via HDMI, the display appears only on the
external monitor.

or this. look at side of PC sam. see what video port you have DP and HDMI both are sold on some and others NONE , if no port there you don't have it. if DP by DP cable if HDMI buy HDMI cable. end. Use a Display port-to-DVI cable. Connect the small plug at one end of the cable to the Display port on the side panel of the computer. Connect the large plug vat the other end of the cable to the DVI port on the back of the monitor. Turn the computer on. Open the display settings window and select which screen you want - computer screen, external monitor screen, or both.
