Re build yours or get a rebuilt engine, you never know how a used engine as been serviced and may end up casting you more money in the long run to replacing it again in 2 years if not less. A rebuilt engine, you know was inspected and worn parts replaced to new conditions. The 5.3 vortec is common enough that the cost for a re built will not be that much and you could alway ask to have another cam swapped in to improve you performance like a LS1 Hot Cam 219/228 .525"/.525" @.050" AND LS6 Springs.
