I need to remove the oven element. the plate that holds it appears to be riveted in place not screwed, unless screws are just worn (17 year old premier chef coordinate series)
How do I remove an oven element from a 17 year old stove? the plate at the back of the oven where the element attaches appears to be riveted not screwed in place, would this be right? or are they really screws and I just cant see where to insert a screwdriver.

These are screws you see. They are oxidized and the slots in the head are probably gone. Best approach is to spray with Pam (or equivalent) cooking oil, then use vise grips to remove the screws.
