I need to restore my contacts on my old Motorola cell phone first. can It be done at all. Phone discharged while I was in hospital and forgot to turn off

Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Your contacts are not deleted if the battery goes dead. Only if you intentionally delete them or you factory reset your phone will they be deleted and be unrecoverable. If you power the phone down or it powers off because all the charge has been depleted, it's all the same.
