I own a 99 ford escort se was in the process of changing outer ty-rods and ball joints with the help of a haynes repair manual - i've completed installing the ty-rods but ran into a problem with the ball joints hanynes repair manual is rather vague in explanation upon removing the old ball joints the manual didn,t tell me that a swing arm would move up about four to five inches towards the engine its self and i don't know how to get it back down to posititon it on the new ball joint can you please help me thanks Brian from Buffalo

I really need more info of your status.....However performing any front suspension work you need both sides of the front end off the ground and placed safely on sturdy jack stands...This will make all components of the front suspension more free to move easily..Although you may still need some type of prying device to set certain components in place it will save you time and labor to do it the easy way."..If you are in your backyard and don't have stands or proper tools and trying to do it one side at a time I understand and it is very annoying....Let me know and I will further assist you.....Hope this helps.......Brooks/Metalpoet.....
Its a pain but you have to get a big pry bar in there to move it. I use a 6 foot piece of 12AWG Strut and pry it down.
