Sounds like you either you have a memory issue or operating system problem.
First, disconnect all cables. Be certain to dispel static electricity by touching metal. Remove the battery and memory cover. Try reseating (removing and reinserting) your memory (try one module at a time to test).
If still a problem, boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, everything, including your documents and other files you saved on the hard drive, will roll back to that date.
Since you can't access System Restore by Safe Mode, try Offline System Restore: 1. Boot from the DVD 2. Select the Language 3. Click on "Repair your Computer" on the Install now screen 4. Click next on the System Recovery Options screen 5. Click on System Restore. 6. Choose the date to which you want to restore
If still a problem, the last choices are Factory Restore and reinstall. Accessing Factory Restore (restores to the factory settings and will wipe out anything that you have installed or saved on your PC), is dependent on your hardware manufacturer. Boot your system and press F9 when the Asus logo appears.. for details, follow link below:

Follow the prompts.
If still not resolved, you'll probably need to reinstall your operating system.
Hope this helps.
