I presently have ADT security monitoring. Can I cancell the service and use the equipment to have it call my cell instead of their monitoring center? This way I can call the police myself if need be; they end up calling me anyways

Some or most new alarm systems have a pager feature built in. but it speaks in code to pager you would need manual to do the programing and understand the code. You may also want to ask the Police how the feel about you calling them to get a dispatch.
