I purchased songs and saved them on the SD memory card, but the songs have disappeared. When I try to re=download them, a message pops up saying that the catalog is out of date and can't be restored to the memory and that I must redownload the songs, but it won't let me

First thing I would like you to do is download them to you console not to the sd card and then you can ushally move them over later as well.
ushally this will help refresh your sd card as well try that and then you should be able to get the downloads to work on the sd card again.
